Community Guidelines

Almari is designed to be a respectful, trustworthy marketplace for new and pre-loved desi fashion. These guidelines apply to listings, profiles, messages and all other activity on Almari.

Be honest about what you are selling

Listings should accurately describe the item, its condition, size, brand, price, alterations and any faults or damage you know about. Do not deliberately hide defects or provide misleading information.

Use your own photos

Upload clear photos of the actual item you are selling wherever possible. Do not use another person's photos or copyrighted material unless you have permission to do so.

Treat other users respectfully

Harassment, threats, hate speech, sexual harassment, discriminatory conduct, intimidation and abusive messages are not permitted. Buyers and sellers should communicate respectfully even where they do not agree.

Keep transactions safe

Almari does not process payments or hold funds. Buyers and sellers arrange payment, postage or pickup themselves. Do not share passwords, verification codes, banking login details or unnecessary personal information through chat.

Protect your location and privacy

Do not publish your full home address in a listing. Use your suburb and state only. If meeting another user, consider a public location and use your own judgment before sharing personal details.

No spam or manipulation

Do not send unsolicited advertising, repeatedly contact users who have declined, create misleading duplicate listings, manipulate reviews, impersonate another person or attempt to move users into suspicious payment arrangements.

Report problems

If you encounter a suspicious listing, scam attempt, harassment, counterfeit item or other unsafe behaviour, use Almari's reporting features when available. Almari may remove content or restrict accounts that breach these guidelines.

Marketplace reminder

Almari connects buyers and sellers. It does not inspect every item, guarantee a seller's identity, guarantee authenticity or guarantee that a transaction will be completed.

Safety

Prohibited Items

Almari is intended for lawful fashion, clothing, footwear and accessories. The following items must not be listed.

Counterfeit or misrepresented goods

Fake designer goods, replicas presented as genuine, counterfeit labels, fake certificates of authenticity, or items using another brand's trademark in a misleading way are prohibited.

Stolen or unlawfully obtained goods

Items that are stolen, fraudulently obtained, subject to an ownership dispute, or that the seller does not have the legal right to sell are prohibited.

Unsafe, recalled or illegal products

Do not list products that are illegal to sell in Australia, subject to a mandatory recall, or known to present an unreasonable safety risk.

Weapons, drugs and regulated goods

Weapons, ammunition, illicit drugs, prescription medicines, tobacco or vaping products, alcohol and other regulated or age-restricted goods are outside Almari's marketplace and must not be listed.

Intimate, explicit or exploitative content

Listings containing pornographic material, sexual services, exploitative imagery or content involving minors are prohibited.

Non-fashion listings

For the current version of Almari, listings should relate to clothing, shoes, jewellery or fashion accessories. Unrelated goods or services may be removed.

Misleading listings

Listings created solely to redirect users elsewhere, collect personal information, advertise unrelated businesses, run scams or solicit deposits for items that do not exist are prohibited.

Almari may remove a listing

Almari may remove or restrict listings and accounts where there is a reasonable concern about legality, safety, authenticity, fraud or a breach of marketplace rules.

Legal

Terms of Use

Draft for Australian launch · Last updated August 2026

These Terms govern access to and use of Almari. By creating an account, posting a listing or using the marketplace, you agree to these Terms.

1. What Almari does

Almari provides an online marketplace that allows users to advertise fashion items and communicate with other users. Unless expressly stated otherwise, Almari is not the buyer, seller, agent, payment processor, delivery provider or owner of items listed by users.

2. Transactions are between users

Buyers and sellers independently decide whether to transact and how payment, pickup, postage, returns and other arrangements will occur. Almari does not hold funds or guarantee payment, delivery, authenticity, quality, condition, legality or completion of a transaction.

3. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for activity carried out through your account. Information you provide must not impersonate another person or materially misrepresent your identity.

4. Your listings

You must have the right to sell any item you list. Listings must be lawful, accurate and comply with the Community Guidelines and Prohibited Items Policy. You remain responsible for the content of your listings and communications.

5. Private sellers and business sellers

Users are responsible for understanding whether they are selling privately or in trade or commerce. Australian consumer protections may apply differently depending on the circumstances. Nothing in these Terms excludes rights or remedies that cannot legally be excluded.

6. Messages and archived listings

When a listing is sold or removed, the product record and its images may be deleted. Existing buyer/seller conversations may retain a minimal snapshot such as the item name, price and removal reason so participants keep context. Archived chats may become read-only.

7. Content licence

You retain ownership of content you upload. You give Almari a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, reproduce and display that content solely as reasonably necessary to operate, moderate and promote the marketplace while your content is active or retained for legitimate platform purposes.

8. Safety and moderation

Almari may investigate reports and may remove listings, restrict features, suspend accounts or preserve relevant information where reasonably necessary for safety, fraud prevention, legal compliance or enforcement of these Terms.

9. Availability

Almari may change, suspend or discontinue parts of the service. The service may occasionally be unavailable because of maintenance, technical issues or third-party service interruptions.

10. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, Almari is not responsible for losses arising solely from transactions independently arranged between users, including non-payment, non-delivery, item condition disputes or conduct at an in-person meetup. Nothing in these Terms limits liability or consumer rights where the law does not allow that limitation.

11. Changes to these Terms

These Terms may be updated as Almari develops. If a material change affects existing users, Almari should provide reasonable notice through the site or account interface.

Privacy Policy

Draft for Australian launch · Last updated August 2026

This Privacy Policy explains the types of personal information Almari may collect, why it is used and how users can manage their information.

1. Information we collect

Depending on the features you use, Almari may collect account information such as your email address and display name; profile information; suburb and state; listing details and images; messages between users; account and listing activity; reports or support information; and technical information necessary to operate and secure the service.

2. Information we do not need publicly

Your email address, password and exact residential address should not be displayed publicly as part of a listing. Almari encourages users to use a display name and approximate location such as suburb and state.

3. How information is used

Information may be used to create and secure accounts, publish listings, enable private messaging, operate archives, prevent fraud and abuse, investigate reports, provide support, improve the service and comply with legal obligations.

4. Supabase and other service providers

Almari currently uses third-party infrastructure providers, including Supabase, to provide authentication, database and storage functionality. Personal information may therefore be processed or stored using those providers' systems in accordance with the services configured by Almari.

5. Public information

Active listing information such as item photos, title, price, category, suburb/state and seller display name may be visible to other users or visitors. Do not include sensitive information in a listing description or image.

6. Private messages

Messages are intended to be visible only to the participants in the relevant conversation and authorised platform administrators where access is reasonably required for safety, moderation, technical support or legal compliance.

7. Archived information

When a listing is sold or removed, Almari may delete the product record and listing photos while retaining the related conversation history and a minimal item snapshot, such as the item name, price and removal reason, so participants retain context.

8. Security

Almari uses account authentication, database access controls and other technical measures intended to restrict unauthorised access. No online service can guarantee absolute security, and users should use strong passwords and protect their own login credentials.

9. Access, correction and deletion

Users should be able to update relevant account and listing information through the service. As Almari develops, account deletion and privacy-request processes should be made available so users can request access to, correction of or deletion of eligible personal information, subject to lawful retention requirements.

10. Data minimisation

Almari aims to collect only information reasonably needed to operate the marketplace. Users should not be asked to provide unnecessary identity documents, banking credentials or exact residential addresses simply to browse or list an item.

11. Changes to this Privacy Policy

This policy may be updated as Almari introduces new features or changes how information is handled. The current version should always be made available through the website.
